You will be studying a range of texts, which will assess your reading skills. The texts will include non-fiction and media texts, a play by Shakespeare, poetry , prose and texts from different cultures and traditions. You will also be assessed on your writing skills and will be assessed on your ability to argue, persuade, advise, analyse, review and comment. You will also improve your speaking and listening skills through a series of individual, group and dramatic tasks.

Home Learning:

Home Learning will consist of consolidating work done in class, spelling, written responses, themed research, reading, comprehension, preparation and completion of essays and revision tasks.

Coursework Requirements:

Coursework 40% - You will complete 4 pieces of writing, including an autobiography, a short story and essays on a Shakespeare play and short stories.

You will also complete at least 3 speaking and listening assessments, which will include a personal speech and a dramatic situation.

Examination 60% – You will sit two written papers that will test your reading responses to non fiction and media texts and a selection of poetry from different cultures. You will also be assessed on your writing.
